Pears are a great source of water-soluble fiber. They also contain vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E, folic acid and niacin and are rich in copper, phosphorus and potassium. But most importantly, they taste really good, especially in this pear smoothie.
I can’t get my daughter to eat a pear. There’s just something about the texture of the flesh she doesn’t like. She does love this smoothie though and since it contains all the healthy parts of the pear, that’s just fine with me.
Pear Smoothie Recipe
- 2 pears
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup apple juice
Peel the pears, cut them into fourths and remove the stem and core. Add them to your blender along with the frozen banana. Add some ice and the apple juice. You can add more ice or juice to get the smoothie to the consistency you like. If the smoothie is not sweet enough try adding a little honey or your favorite low-calorie sweetener (like splenda or stevia).
This smoothie tastes best if you use very juice and ripe pears and a banana that’s almost overripe.
