Oatmeal Banana Smoothie

Print This Post Print This Post

This oatmeal banana smoothie makes a great breakfast smoothie. It’s like your favorite bowl of oatmeal turned into a sippable smoothie. I make this smoothie for myself when I have leftover oatmeal from the kids’ breakfast. It’s quick to put together and I can drink it as I get to work on stuff around the house.

Oatmeal Banana Smoothie Recipe

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 packet instant oatmeal, regular flavor or 1/2 cup prepared and cooled oatmeal
  • 1 whole banana, cut in chunks
  • 1 cup orange juice

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend for at least a minute or two to make sure everything is well combined. Serve right away.

The oatmeal may start to settle on the bottom of your glass, just take a spoon and stir it back in as you drink your smoothie.

I recently discovered oatmeal smoothies. Here’s a non-dairy version that serves 2. My husband and I often have this for lunch; it’s very filling:

1 c. whole oats soaked in 2 c. of water overnight
1 banana, cut into chunks (mine have usually been frozen, which might make the smoothie creamier)
1/2 c. dried fruit (All one kind or a combination. I usually dehydrate my own–strawberries, mangoes, blueberries, raspberries, apples, etc., OR 1 c. fresh or frozen fruit)
    2 T. local honey
1 tsp. Ester C powder (opt.)

Put all ingredients in a blender–including the water the oats were soaked in–and process till smooth. Don’t skimp on blending–the more the better. Pour into two goblets and enjoy!

you really do not need to add milk to this. I use this whenever I want a smoothie but have no milk in the fridge. The oatmeal and OJ ( or just water) creates a creamy basis for the smoothie. Add frozen bananas and you have a top notch, ice cold, HEALTHY meal!
